Job Description
This client provides IT systems to hundreds of companies in the London Insurance Market. As part of the Implementation team, this role is a Test Manager for the London Insurance Market customers and systems.
The Test Manager will be required to develop and deliver a testing strategy and ensure all testing activities undertaken in the project deliveries meet defined quality standards.
Key accountabilities
Ensure testing is represented within the Insurance Sector Implementation team
Create a testing strategy to be used as the framework for all software development within the Insurance Sector
Identify and implement improvements in the testing processes
Derive the measurements for tracking the quality of testing provided
Lead and work with teams across distributed geographical boundaries, particularly with part of the team located in India
Review all functional and non-functional testing for key projects
Plan or approve test plans for system and acceptance testing
Review test case for key projects to ensure consistency and quality
Provide testing inputs in to all deliverables for key projects
Transfer knowledge to offshore and onshore teams
Contribute and review testing estimates for planning
Required Skills and Experience
Essential:
Knowledge and application of test management techniques and testing within the full software development lifecycle
Experience of defining testing metrics which have facilitated improvement in the quality of testing
Experience of utilising testing tools (eg HP QualityCenter, Borland SilkTest)
Proven ability to successfully take a logical and structured approach to leading a multi-disciplinary team of testing professionals to troubleshoot complex and intermittent problems to tight timeframes while under pressure
Experience leading and working with teams across distributed geographical boundaries, particularly with the majority of the team located in India
Highly developed communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to communicate testing concepts and issues clearly and succinctly to stakeholders at all levels of the organisation, from junior technical staff to senior management
Demonstrated capability to work in an unstructured and high-pressure environment, introduce structured and best-practice approaches, and consistently deliver high quality results.
Desirable:
ISEB certified
Knowledge and experience of Insurance concepts, ideally in the London market
Understanding of security, issue and use of certificates
