The Systems Analyst supports Sallie Mae and its subsidiaries in the implementation, use, development and enhancement of the Principia Financial Analytical system.
DIMENSIONS
The Systems Analyst will be involved in enhancing, developing, testing, supporting and maintaining one or more of the following systems: Principia system and related load/interface jobs.
NATURE AND SCOPE
This position reports to the Senior Manager Systems Development. No subordinates report to this position.
The CSD unit supports the users in Sallie Mae and its subsidiaries in the following areas: identifying and documenting system requirements, assisting in the design or purchase of Finance/Human Resource systems, testing, identifying enhancements and fixes to existing systems, coordinating the systems development effort, documenting procedures and training users.
In addition, this unit is responsible for supporting Accounting, Finance and Human Resource users throughout the corporation and re-engineering procedures when possible. Typical responsibilities include: documenting process flows and user requirements and developing applications using PeopleTools, SQR, TCL, C#, Java, Microsoft Access or other client server tools. This unit provides technical assistance as required and assists the users in determining software and hardware requirements.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
* Perform development and manage the production support for the Principia systems and related interfaces. Work directly with the Finance and Accounting business users by managing, designing, developing, testing, implementing and providing training for as well as documenting Principia enhancements.
* Work independently to develop solutions using Principia development tools, .TCL, PERL, Java or other client server/web based tools. Ensure that development follows the Systems Development Lifecycle.
* Provide user support and training, recommend and implement technological solutions to problems for Sallie Mae and its subsidiaries.
* Work with the various other IT groups such as Infrastructure, Systems Administrators, Database Administrators and Solutions Center Analysts to ensure applications are appropriately implemented and supported
* Prepare management reports, memoranda, and project timelines as appropriate while performing various internal business consulting projects.
* Perform ad hoc projects as assigned by the Senior Manager Systems Development.
* Draft meeting agendas, lead meetings and follow up with minutes and outstanding issues.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or Information Systems. Proficient in the use of software development using .Java, SQL, Unix, Korn Shell, PERL or TCL. A thorough knowledge of database environments and structures. At least five years experience in developing, testing, installing and maintaining financial systems using client server development tools or other large software package. Proven experience in leading development teams and managing production support.
* Systems Analysis and Development: All phases of the systems development life cycle could include: assisting with defining systems requirements, documenting general and detailed system design, developing solutions, supporting user acceptance testing and supporting production systems.
* Systems Maintenance: Provide on-going user support to identify production problems/enhancements; diagnose and propose solutions, test program changes; track and prioritize requests.
