Position Summary
Design, develop and maintain the City of Kingston’s corporate internet and intranet sites Work with various City teams and business partners to formulate web based communication, collaboration, and interaction/transaction strategies Take a lead role in the definition and execution of development projects Qualifications, Competencies
• Minimum three year computer science (developer) diploma or degree from a recognized University, Community College, or Institute of Technology, or equivalent in education and experience
• Three years experience in a senior web developer position in an organization with over 200 employees
• Seven years experience in software applications development
• Previous experience in Web based programming using Java
• You must submit examples of site design work you have completed (URLs preferred) as part of your application
• Must demonstrate corporate competencies: Customer Focus, Results Orientation, Integrity, and Teamwork skills, abilities, work demands
• Thorough knowledge of Project Management and Systems Development methodology
• Web Site strategy, information architecture, and design knowledge
• Experience with CSS, javascript, query, PHP/Perl, JSP;ASP, Eclipse, and JSR portal development desirable, as well as HTML/XHTML, XSLT, MVC (struts), and cross-browser compatibility
• Ability to implement/support commercial or open source content management systems (Liferay very desirable)
• Must have experience in relational database technology (Oracle, MySQL, MS-SQL); database driven web applications
• Experience with web server administration (Tomcat, Apache, Weblogic, IIS)
• Must possess strong knowledge of web site accessibility standards (applying standard to web sites)
• Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, along with the ability to work independently and in a team
• Ability to work closely and cooperatively with vendors, internal and external resources
