Design Engineer – Tennessee
Davalyn Corporation has been retained by one of its best clients to fill a Design Engineer position. This position
produces designs for products within the cutting tool product lines. The Engineer will be responsible for designs for
inserts that are consistent with standard and special tool configurations in different technologies (Milling, Turning,
and drilling, etc.).
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Works closely with Product Development and Sales teams to create conceptual designs to meet the metal removal
requirements of customers.
• Partners with manufacturing engineering group to evaluate and/or modify initial designs to improve manufacturability
of products.
• Responsible for updating product drawings.
• Adapts procedures, processes, tools, equipment and techniques
• Applies basic to advanced design knowledge
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities Required:
• Intermediate knowledge of Mechanical Engineering
• Intermediate proficiency with 3-D CAD systems required (Siemens NX6 experience preferred)
• Working knowledge of cutting tool products
• Demonstrated ability to draw finish designs from sketches
• Good mathematical skills, including geometry and trigonometry
• Good computer skills to include Microsoft Office Suite
• Good oral and written communication skills
Education and Experience Requirements:
• Associate Degree and/or Technical Certification in a closely related field of study are required. 5+ years of
carbide/steel cutting tool design experience may be substituted for degree.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
• Minimum of 5 years manufacturing experience in the metals industry required.
• Project leadership experience
