Experts is the exclusive recruiter for Raven Industries. The Electronic Systems Division has an immediate opportunity for a Quality Assurance
Engineer.
Assist the Quality Assurance Manager in implementing and administering the quality assurance and control functions to ensure product reliability and
conformance to Customer and industry specifications.
Essential Functions
Review technical data packages for manufacturability and potential quality conformance issues.
Perform analysis utilizing various continuous improvement tools (e.g., 8D, Pareto, cause and effect, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis, data
stratification, process capability analysis, Design of Experiments, statistical analysis, etc.) to identify defect causes and optimize process yield.
Manage the continual improvement action process. Investigate root cause and continual improvement action for internal and external action requests.
Write continual improvement action responses to Customers.
Generate inspection instructions to ensure all critical elements are verified within specific inspection points throughout the process. Provide
written instructions and visual aides (masters) for the effective verification of first article, in-process and final products.
Assure conformance to the divisions ISO quality management system. Conduct internal audits, document results, initiate continual improvement actions
for non-conformances, and follow-up to ensure non-conformances have been corrected. Identify weaknesses in the Quality Management System, identify and
implement necessary continual improvement actions.
Administer the Supplier Development and Certification system. Conduct Supplier quality system audits.
Provide technical support as required to all Customer Value Team product verification and acceptance functions to clarify and ensure compliance with
all quality requirements including returned goods.
May be called upon, at the discretion of the Quality Assurance Manager, to perform comparable duties of a similar or related nature, and/or assist in
other areas where staffing shortages exist.
Gather data and produce reports for Cost of Poor Quality, SPC, non-conformance trends, RMA trends, and others as directed. Assist in the
administration and training for the division SPC system.
Maintain records and files pertinent to assignments.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Bachelors degree in technical field and three to five years quality assurance experience; and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge of ISO 9000:2000 requirements.
Ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written forms.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as technical procedures, government regulations, safety rules and operating and maintenance instructions.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Effective
decision-making skills.
Working knowledge of current manufacturing techniques and philosophies.
Ability to be a team player as well as work independently. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with peers, Customers,
Suppliers and management.
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Access as well as SPC and statistical analysis tools is desired.
Position requires sitting, standing, walking, bending, reaching, climbing, speech and hearing ability.
Knowledge of quality assurance/control techniques, especially as related to product reliability and conformance.
