Purchasing Director jobs in USA
My client is a leading Building Products Manufacturer. We are currently looking for a Director of Purchasing. This person should have a minimum ten (10) years’ experience in a quality supplier development or procurement role in the manufacturing industry is preferred. This person will need to be working at HQ in Michigan, relocation assistance will be offered.
Specific Responsibilities:
• Manage supply agreements and activities associated with the procurement of materials for manufacturing operations at their facilities and its sister companies.
• Lead activities to optimize the value of materials and their processing.
• Provide support through the coordination of supplier qualifications, data collection, data analysis/reporting and corrective/preventative action.
• Identify and develop relationships with suppliers (new and existing) regarding quality and processing.
• Oversee the procurement of all materials, equipment and service by company and its sister companies.
• Forecast procurement needs.
• Negotiate pricing, terms and conditions of sale, warranties of goods and products with suppliers and vendors.
• Lead the initiative to identify raw material and finished good suppliers.
• Develop procurement key performance indicators.
General Responsibilities:
• Maintain open communications with sister companies regarding new ideas and technology.
• Member of the Senior Management Team involved in the development and creation of company wide strategy and tactics.
• Participative management style-advocate of team concept.
• Responsible for supply chain management.
• Maintain qualified supplier database while leading supplier evaluation and qualification process.
• Work with Engineering and Quality Control to modify processes or specifications for direct materials to reduce variation of end product, reduce processing or material costs, or reduce internal and external scrap.
• Work with Engineering/Manufacturing to integrate early supplier involvement into new product development and/or product modifications as appropriate.
• Develop an in-depth awareness of vendor technology, industry profiles and world economic conditions as they relate to assigned items.
• Analyze market and delivery conditions to determine present and future material availability.
