US-CA-Taft/Bakersfield ~ Project Engineer ~ Petrochemical/Refining Industry
We thought we had this unique Project Engineering position filled, but, unfortunately, it was not meant to be :>( This is a great opportunity with an exceptional group of folks who are seeking another qualified professional to join their ranks. This position is available due to succession planning (we have a couple of longtime employees who are nearing retirement). This is not your typical huge company, where individual contributions get lost in the shuffle, but rather an environment in which professional accomplishments and contributions are recognized and rewarded.
As an aside, the Bakersfield area offers some of the most affordable housing in California, the noted lack of metropolitan ills (spend your time living not commuting), and ready access to a myriad of recreational options (snow skiing, water skiing, golf, fishing, hunting, world class river rafting/kayaking, some of the best Basque food in the US, just a couple of hours to the coast through the movie version of the valley of Shangri-La, aka, Ojai Valley, and, if Tinseltown is your pleasure, it is only a couple of hours over the Grapevine).
In general the incumbent will:
• Design and install minor and major capital projects.
• Prepare specifications, drawings, bid packages, quotation analysis and other applicable documents for purchase, construction, and repair of refinery facilities.
• Supervise the activities of contract engineering and construction personnel.
• Lead projects from the feasibility phase through design, construction, startup, and close out phases.
• The Project Engineer will be responsible for completing the projects on time, within the budget, and adherence to the design specifications.
• Provide timely and accurate engineering designs.
• Apply good safety and environmental practices in all engineering recommendations.
Qualified candidates will possess:
• B.S. in Mechanical Engineering.
• 3 to 10 years experience in Petrochemical/Refining sectors.
• Unsponsored US work authorization.
