MIS/GIS Expert [One Post]
Location: Sungi Head Office – Abbottabad
POSITION PURPOSE/SUMMARY
The MIS/GIS expert will work as a member of the project’s team, with a key role in data base management both for GIS and MIS. Providing support and updates through data base management.
The GIS/MIS expert will work in close coordination with the field teams for data base management.
ROLES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Under the direct supervision and guidance of Project Coordinator & Director Operations, the incumbent will manage the activities related to the project work plan by updating the data base both for GIS and MIS component of the project.
The GIS/MIS expert will contribute to the overall planning and implementation of project work plan activities and the capacity building of the field teams regarding MIS data base management.
The main responsibilities are:
Coordination:
• The GIS/MIS expert will be required to coordinate with the field coordinators and with the project management for conveying the progress updates as of data base including MIS/GIS Updates.
• GIS/MIS expert will coordinate with the project field team for data base upgrading and management.
• Create an environment conducive for yielding innovations and innovative ideas, encourage and foster all such ideas and orient selected stakeholders for finding creative solutions of the related problems and issues.
• Support the project coordinator to provide inputs for project’s updates preparations.
Procurement
• The GIS/MIS expert will work for procurement of digital imageries and all other related material required in development of GIS/MIS data base like aerial photographs and digital imageries etc.
• The GIS/MIS expert will generate a detailed procurement plan with time line along with a detailed distribution plan of items to be handed over to the project beneficiaries.
Project Implementation
• The GIS/MIS expert will have to extend full support to the field teams to carry out project implementation plan.
• Carry out capacity building sessions with the staff for effective utilization of MIS/GIS component.
Field Monitoring
• Regularly updated the MIS and GIS system through field visits and monitoring of the activities, implemented with project beneficiary households.
Reporting
• Formulate monthly and quarterly update reports of field activities, based on data base and ensure its timely submissions to various stakeholders including CHF-Canada.
• Provide necessary inputs in both statistical and narrative reports to be prepared at organizational level and also for report preparation to be submitted to CHF-Canada.
• Provide information, material, document and prepare reports as and when required by Sungi.
Quality Assurance
• Ensure delivery of high quality outputs and products as planned
• Ensure the production of high quality progress reports, documents and other materials.
Strategic Planning/Experience Sharing
• Participate in experience sharing and consultative process of making necessary adjustments in strategies and approaches on the basis of lessons learnt.
AUTHORITIES
• As a member of the project team, the incumbent has the authority to plan and implement the field activities and make necessary institutional arrangements in consultation with project coordinator and management.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
Qualifications: Masters in MIS/GIS/IT related
Relevant Experience: 3-4 Years in the relevant sector
Required Skills:
• Design, development and updating of MIS
• Development and up-dating of GIS
• Knowledge and skills about how to use MS Access and ArcGIS
• Persons with knowledge of web based GIS development will be preferred
• Reporting writing and project development skills
• Monitoring and research based skills and knowledge
• Sensitivity to cultural differences, ability to work in a wide variety of cultural contexts
• Willingness to work and/or travel in other field offices
• Good Communication (written, spoken in Urdu and English) Skills, Local Language
• Should have time management, problem solving ability and attitude
