Our Client is currently recruiting for a Human Resources Advisor to provide human resource expertise to support the business, management, employees and the human resource department in a full range of programs and activities, including but not limited to, consultation, employee relations, recruitment and compensation, as well as performance and talent management. Developing and implementing initiatives to enhance employee satisfaction and engagement and to support the organization’s values are core focuses of this role.
Responsibilities encompass all aspects of human resources including consultative, employee relations, recruitment, compensation, performance management, and ongoing advice and guidance on human resource related matters.
For an assigned client group, provides expert counsel, advice and guidance to the business on complex employee relations issues, human resource governance matters, change initiatives, leadership, process, cultural opportunities in accordance with company philosophy and policies
Maintain strong client focus by actively building trust and partnership among employees, leadership and colleagues
Lead and manage recruitment activities, including screening candidates, participating in and coordinating the interview process, checking references, and preparing offers of employment; manage external vendor (agencies) relationships, as required.
Advise and assist leaders and employees in the interpretation and implementation of company policies and procedures.
Conducts exit interviews with employee documenting results
Collect and analyze data to determine reasons for turnover, absenteeism, accidents etc. With support, provides guidance on complex disability/attendance issues and return-to-work programs
Assists in job description preparation and enhancements, performance appraisal and salary administration programs
Provides feedback to the Human Resource Manager on any required updates or changes that may be required on operating principles, policies, etc.
Actively protect and maintain confidential information.
Facilitates talent management and succession planning discussions and processes in client groups to mitigate risk to the business
Provide leadership and guidance to the business in identifying and meeting major change objectives
Conduct training sessions for managers as required on topics such as performance management, etc.
The ideal candidate for this role has a minimum of:
University Degree or Community College diploma in Human Resource Management or equivalent industry experience
Five years of progressive experience as a human resource generalist.
Excellent knowledge of human resource practices and theories; including a strong understanding and ability to provide advice on the application of Provincial and Federal employment legislation.
Outstanding interpersonal skills, an outgoing nature, excellent time management, organizational, verbal and written communication skills, and fostering a cooperative spirit will lead to success in this role.
Consultative style and customer service skills to provide client centered human resource services.
Ability to provide efficient and effective solutions to employee relations issues in the workplace and ensure fair, equitable and legal employment practices are met.
Ability to gain credibility and develop effective relationships with management and employees and with external stakeholders;
Strategic, flexible and solutions focused, while applying common sense.
Strong analytical, research and problem solving skills to identify and assess opportunities, risks and impacts of human resource management strategies and initiatives
A proactive team player, capable of motivating and providing leadership is essential.
Works well in a fast paced environment with the ability to manage various tasks simultaneously and work with changing priorities.
Ability to perform under pressure; organize multiple projects while managing changing priorities and deadlines.
Ability to take ownership and accept accountability for initiatives and meet agreed upon commitments
Proven track record of delivering results and exceeding expectations
Prepare human resource communications, policies, reports, recruitment packages and training materials; and
Detail oriented, well organized and a demonstrated ability to function effectively with a high degree of independence and autonomy.
Willingness continue to develop and maintain knowledge in all areas of human resources
Highly proficient in the use of Microsoft office products such as Excel, PowerPoint and Word; HRIS experience (UltiPro) is an asset.
Achievement of the Certified Human Resource Professional (CHRP) designation would be considered an asset.
Experience with human resource metrics reporting an asset.
Bilingual, French and English would be considered an asset.
