Job Description:
Responsible for the planning, direction, development, coordination and control of activities concerned with the Critical Care, Intermediate Care, Surgical Vascular, and Medical Surgical Units. Ensures the delivery of quality nursing care for patients in accordance with age related and individual needs, physician orders, hospital policy standards of care and nursing practice. Responsible for the overall management of the department’s daily operations to achieve quality improvement, fiscal, productivity, and patient satisfaction goals and objectives established by upper management. The Department Director assumes quality service on a 24 hour basis. Is responsible for meeting JCAHO standards, complying with corporate policy and procedures, for promoting teamwork for physicians and all health care providers, promoting internal and external satisfaction and for appropriate resource management.
Qualifications:
BS in Nursing is required w/ Masters in Nursing or Health Care related field preferred. Three to five years progressive experience in critical care nursing and 2-3 years in a managerial, supervisory position. ACLS, BLS, CCRN required; TNCC preferred.
Reports to CNO. Oversees clinical coordinators, staff nurses, LNAs and unit secretaries. Collaborates with Educators and ancillary team members.
