POSITION SUMMARY
The Cost Analyst will provide critical product costing reporting and analysis. This role will play an import part of providing information and analysis to several organizations within RIM. Additionally, this roll will participate in the further development of a new product cost reporting system that will facilitate decision making and cost performance management.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Costing and Business Engagement
Prepare monthly product costing reports used to track current cost rollups and future estimates
Requires an understanding of the collection, extraction, and manipulation of data from multiple sources such as SAP and various business intelligence reports
Develop cost models and cost estimates for in-life and development products to allow management to make decisions on products, mix, and markets
Work closely with the Manufacturing Supply Chain team, Hardware Engineering, and Product Management to review and analyze cost roll-ups and variances to target costs
Develop and analyze cost comparisons across various plants
Analyze monthly actuals to ensure standards are in line
Review and analyze various cost trends over time
Prepare other adhoc comparisons between product families, technologies, and geography
Provide adhoc analysis and insight on cost drivers and opportunities to reduce costs
Provide support to target cost setting for products
Provide insight and support to developing cost performance reports in business objects
Work on other projects as required
Provide planning support for costing
Month End/ Quarter End Activities
Assist in month end activities related to Material Valuation and Costing
Review and evaluating list of materials to be revalued and assessing financial impact
Ensure accuracy of updates
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
University/ College degree preferred
Active enrollment in recognized accounting program (CGA, CMA, CGA)
2-5 years experience
Strong knowledge of MS office applications
Knowledge of SAP and Business Objects would be an asset
Manufacturing experience preferred
Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
Strong attention to detail
