Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled application architect to play a hands-on
role. This individual’s primary responsibility will be to provide
ongoing oversight for several of Seedco’s new and ongoing critical
software initiatives, and management of new software solutions. This
role will also be responsible for the architecture of Seedco’s master
data management strategy. Through this effort they will touch on all
business processes within our numerous business lines.
Seedco’s IT Department provides strategic technology direction and
architecture vision for all of its business units. Under the direction
of the VP of IT, the Application Architect will establish a
comprehensive central architecture practice, assist in leading IT
application strategy and architecture transformation, establish an IT
application oversight and governance function, while promoting
collaboration and open communication to facilitate better decision
making at all levels.
This position is a full time position paying up to $100,000 depending
on experience. We have an attractive benefits package which includes

Primary Responsibilities:
• Work with business managers to define, design and implement
software solution architectures, with the responsibility of project
management and implementation oversight;
• Work with project teams, vendors, partner organizations,
systems specialists and other technical resources;
• Be responsible for the architecture dispensations,
defining-designing-delivering the technical architecture, technical
quality, fitness for purpose and ability of technical architecture
solutions;
• Manage technical risks, as well as plan and execute
architectural quality assurance processes;
• Be responsible for technical presentations demonstrating a
good understanding of application, data, infrastructure, architecture
expertise and application systems design;
• Mentor development staff in the design and implementation of solutions;
• Establish methodologies for software development life cycle;
• Provide strategic input for complex initiatives. While
understanding the business priorities, the architect must be forward
thinking in developing ideas and solutions that support the medium and
long term goals of the business to give it a competitive edge;
• Foster teamwork and a spirit of collaboration among IT team
members as well as with business partners while conveying a sense of
urgency and responsiveness to meet business needs;
• Pro actively resolve barriers and issues that get in the way of
achieving short-term and long-term goals;
• Make decisions regarding technical approaches for software
project development.
• Provide guidance and lead resolution of technical issues as they arise;
• Lead the creation of detailed technical designs
(define-design-implement architecture solutions); and
• Lead and influence through example and results.

This role is for an individual contributor who would like to blend
their technical capabilities with business engagement and strategy
responsibilities.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience
• Masters in software engineering or similar discipline preferred.
• At least 5 years of software development experience including
implementation of enterprise solutions.
• Proficiency with the Java programming language, detailed
experience with OOD. Expertise in J2EE/Java technologies, including
Red Hat’s application stack.
• Proficiency with LAMP environments and development.
• Experience with establishing technical strategy and
architecture at an enterprise level is expected; awareness of both
current and developing technologies.

influence and lead design decisions.
• Strategic thinking skills. Strong organizational leadership
capabilities with an understanding of business and competitive
environments.
